maroc-zambia.jpgA week ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations, to be hosted by Ghana (January 20 through February 10), Morocco’s soccer squad beat, here Saturday, its Zambian counterpart 2-0 in a friendly as part of the two teams’ preparations for the finals.

The Atlas Lions opened the scoring in the 52th minute through Tarek Sektioui from a penalty. Eight minutes later, striker Soufiane Alloudi managed to score the second goal, taking advantage of a mix up in the Zambian defence.

The Moroccan team is scheduled to play Angola on January 16 in Rabat in its last friendly, before heading for Ghana.

So far, the Atlas Lions have made a brilliant performance in their preparations under Henri Michel. On November 22, they bested the Senegalese squad 3-0 after a 2-2 tie against France a week earlier.

In Ghana 2008, Morocco will play in Group A besides the host country Ghana, Guinea and Namibia.
